Find Your Style - January Stamp of the Month 2011 Blog Hop

Pin It Happy New Year!  January brings all kinds of exciting things for Close to My Heart - The New January Inspirations book AND the January Stamp of the Month!  Be sure to check them out!

Each month I participate in a Stamp of the Month Blog Hop that features the special stamp that is only available that month.  Using the links provided, you hop from blog to blog viewing over 50 ideas using that stamp set.  If you came here from Wanda Riley's Blog then you are on the right track. If you get lost along the way, you can view the list of Close to My Heart participants here.  You will find the next link at the end of this post.

Now onto the set and my card.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this set (can you tell I like it?)!  The butterfly is very condusive to SO many techniques and I'm excited about using a very special paper with the sewing form image that you'll see below.  Here is what the stamp set looks like:

And here is my card:
D1452 Find Your Style January Stamp of the Month
Baby Pink Cardstock
White Daisy Cardstock
Black Cardstock
Bamboo Cardstock
Juniper Cardstock
Black Ink Pad
Bamboo Ink Pad
Basic Buttons
Black Waxy Flax
Sanding Block
White Grosgrain Ribbon 5/8"
Foam Tape
An old dress pattern from my mom's sewing table.  :o)
All products can be purchased on my website or on your consultant's website.

  • The card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", but is cut vertically so the fold is at the top and is tall rather than wide
  • I sanded the Baby Pink and Juniper cardstock to give it an antique look
  • The dress form and the word "Beautiful" are stamped with black cardstock onto Bamboo cardstock
  • I made a tag out of the Bamboo cardstock and added a punched circle to the top to give it an authentic look
  • The top edges of the tag are snipped with scissors to make it look more like an actual tag
  • I scraped the edges of the tag with Bamboo ink to give it a worn feel
  • Yes, the pleated paper IS an old dress pattern (thanks for digging through your sewing drawer Mom!).  I torn it slightly shorter than the white cardstock, added adhesive to the cardstock, and pleated the pattern paper and I stuck it to the cardstock
Let me know if you have any questions and I'd love to read your comments.  Thanks!

Cocoa Packet Gift Idea

These were some of the gifts at my Customer Appreciation Day event and they were a big hit.  You can modify them for any occasion and even use a circular Happy Holidays stamp for the center instead of the Thank You.  The directions are below:

Supplies: (click on the item link to see what it looks like on my website)
Magnifique Level 2 Paper Pack
New Fallen Snow Stamp Set
Thank You Stamp Set
Twill Ribbon
Foam Tape
Chocolate Ink Pad
Indian Corn Blue Ink Pad
Outdoor Denim 12x12 Cardstock
1 1/4" Circle Punch

  • Take a 4" x 11" Base cardstock and score at 4", 4 1/2", 9 1/2".
  • Fold as shown in photos.  (All folds go the same direction and the small end folds up for the bottom pocket.)
  • Adhere your choice of papers and stamped images to the front.
  • Add a little bit of adhesive to the back of a cocoa packet or on the inside of the cardstock.  Stick the packet to the cardstock as shown.
  • Fold the bottom/small end flap of the cardstock over the bottom of the cocoa packet and tie ribbon around it to help hold it up and create the pocket for the cocoa packet.
  • Slide the front of the cardstock down over the packet and under the front flap.
That's all!  I made 12 of these in about an hour.  They make great gifts for co-workers, neighbors, and friends! Pin It

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here is an ADORABLE card that my mom made for her kindergarteners this year.  She got her inspiration from a 3x3 Mini Album that is shown in the Idea Book and used the Thanksgiving Set and Passages papers.  I love how she added a Gray Flannel marker "behind" the stamped images to create a shadow!  It's beautiful Mom!

Magnifique Snowflake Card

I thought I would try my hand at the Mojo Monday Sketch 165.  If I'm ever having a creative block then checking out some of the online challenges is a great way to break out of it.  I put the recipe and directions below.

Outdoor Denim Ribbon Rounds
Prisma Glitter
Glue Pen
Foam Tape
Corner Rounder
Piercing Tool
White Brads

  • Layer a piece of Magnifique background paper over a white card
  • Remove the guide from the Corner Rounder and punch a scalloped pattern across a piece of white cardstock
  • Place the white cardstock onto a Outdoor Denim rectangle
  • Add a larger piece of striped background paper to the bottom of the rectangle (I used the backside of the paper)
  • Pierce through the top/right of the Outdoor Denim cardstock and add 3 white brads
  • Wrap a piece of ribbon around the Outdoor Denim rectangle and tie to the right
  • Add rectangle to the card at an angle
  • For the snowflake dimensional element, sponge Crystal Blue ink all over it to cover the whole surface
  • Add foam tape to the back of the snowflake and adhere to the card in the upper left hand corner
  • Use a static bag (a child's sock with baby powder or cornstarch will work too) over the front of the card so the glitter won't stick to the surface other than the snowflake
  • Rub the glue pen all over the snowflake
  • Sprinkle Prisma Glitter over snowflake
  • Dump off excess glitter and let dry
  • Done!

Simple Nov SOTM Card

Here is a super simple card using the November Stamp of the Month: A Little Thanks.  To create the card by cutting an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock in half lengthwise to make a card that is 4 1/4 x 8 1/2.  I stamped the scalloped circle image onto a scrap of white cardstock with Smoothie ink, cut it out, pushed a silver brad through the center, and used foam tape to adhere it to the card.  I stamped the saying below it with Black ink.  (It is a distressed-looking stamp, so it is supposed to look like that.) Enjoy!

November Stamp of the Month: A Little Thanks Blog Hop

Pin It Welcome to the October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! If you came here from Carol Harris's Blog then you are on the right track. If you are new to the blog hop then just start here and hop from blog to blog following the links to wonderful SOTM artwork done by fellow Close to My Heart consultants. If you get lost along the way, you can view the entire list of participants here.

I probably use Thank You stamps the most out of my collection, so of course I LOVE THIS SET!  It has Thank You stamps in just about every shape and size and will be one I definitely keep for a long time.  Here is my blog hop card, but keep checking back here for more ideas.  We will also use this set at my November workshop, so let me know if would like to attend.

D1444 A Little Thanks Stamp of the Month Set
D1413 Cherished Flourishes Stamp Set
X7128B Olivia Level 2 Paper Packet
  • 4 1/4 x 11 Bamboo CS
  • 1/2 Green Stripe B&T paper (back of leaf piece)
  • 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 Floral Swirl B&T paper
  • 3 pieces of different B&T paper for circles (see below)
Z2114 Cocoa Ink Pad
Z2103 Bamboo Ink Pad
Z2110 Buttercup Ink Pad
Z697 Sponge
Z1338 Sunset Mini-Medley
Z1100 Cocoa Grosgrain

Creating the Flower

1)  Trace three different sized circles onto three different pieces of background paper.
2)  Cut out the circles with regular scissors, but in a rough scalloped shape (you can cut in a quick squiggly pattern)
3)  Spray each circle with a fine water mist and crinkle it into a ball then smooth them out somewhat flat.
4)  Pinch the back of the center of each circle with your fingers and "smooth" out the natural creases that occur to create loose pleats in the flower.
5)  Layer all of the circles to create a flower
6)  Pierce through the center and insert a brad to hold the layers together. Set aside to dry.

Layering the Card
1)  Adhere the green piece of B&T paper to the bottom of the card
2)  Adhere the Smoothie CS above the green piece
3)  Drag one side of the Floral B&T piece across the Cocoa ink pad to add a dark edge.  Place it toward the top of the card, above the Smoothie piece.

1)  Stamp the large "Thanks" in Cocoa ink above the floral piece on the right
2)  Stamp the swirl from the Cherished Flourishes set in Buttercup over the "Thanks"

1)  Sponge Bamboo ink around the top of the card
2)  Add a strip of Cocoa grosgrain ribbon
3)  Use Liquid Glass to adhere the flower to the card or pierce through the whole card and use the brad to hold it together.

Now hop on over to Dawn Heuft's blog to see more great ideas using A Little Thanks!

Back from Cabo!

Pin It My husband and I just returned from Cabo San Lucas last night after enjoying the sun for five days.  We had a wonderful time relaxing by the pool and checking out a little bit of the town.  Guess what I forgot though...  MY CAMERA!! Arghhh!  What kind of a scrapbooker am I anyway!?  Geesh!  Luckily my husband's phone takes photos even though they aren't quite the quality I would love, but it was a camera anyway.  Here is a shot taken from a restaurant called "The Office" which has THE BEST fajitas I've ever had in my life.  We sat at a table right on the beach!  In addition to the wonderful food, there was live music and Mexican blankets to warm your shoulders in case you felt a chill in the evening.  Here is a photo of us there:
